5th ISPIM Innovation Symposium: 9-12 December 2012

Call for Papers

Companies and nations are searching for effective ways to stimulate innovation. Companies need new offerings to secure competitive advantage in rapidly changing global markets and nations need new policies to restore and advance economic growth. National policies meet company strategies in stimulating scientific research, technology development and managerial innovation.

Interestingly, many different approaches to stimulating innovation have been successfully applied at corporate, regional and national level. At national level, for example, Korea and Japan have organised socio-economic growth within planned systems of science and technology. These systems have produced significant socio-economic development and corporations with world-class technology and know-how. Crafting successful policies and strategies raises some important questions: How should we enable managers and entrepreneurs to explore new opportunities? How can we design an effective climate for new ventures? How do we select the ‘right’ scientific opportunities? How can we advance fast technology development? How should companies be encouraged to innovate? Effectively answering these and related questions is crucial for stimulating innovation.

Submissions from academic, research, consulting, industry, intermediary and policy organisations are encouraged and should focus on the following general themes or Symposium Focus Theme

  • Science & technology challenges for innovation (event focus)
  • Collaboration for innovation (incl. Open Innovation)
  • Creativity & idea generation
  • Entrepreneurship, business models & financing innovation
  • Innovation training, education & learning
  • Methods, tools & measurement for innovation
  • Networks & clusters of innovation
  • Public sector & social innovation
  • Strategic foresight, strategic agility & future orientation
  • Sustainability in innovation

Important Submission Deadlines

  • 14 September 2012: Outlines Only (All Submissions)
  • 28 September 2012: Acceptance Notification
  • 16 November 2012: Final Submissions (including papers, profiles & photos) PLUS registration and payment

Submissions

The table below describes the possible submission types for this symposium. All files should be submitted online at www.conferencesubmissions.com/seoul2012 by the respective deadline date. Do NOT email submissions to ISPIM. Only one submission and one presentation per person is permitted. There is no limit on co-authoring or co-presenting.

ISPIM reserves the right to organise the programme as it sees fit and to reallocate submissions, if necessary (for example submissions that are deemed to be work-in-progress may get reallocated to the research development sessions). Presenters should be available to give their presentation at any point during the three days. We cannot entertain individual requests for times or slots because it significantly impairs the quality and coherence of the themed sessions and integrated programme.
